Ford Figo Aspire
Ford Figo Aspire - the fresh approach
This popular sedan is derived from its European cousin- Ka+ Active.
Although it looks very familiar to the freestyle version of Ka+, it has its own
individual identities. And that makes it a fresh new effort from Ford India
designed specifically for Indian market. Also, many of its competitors
including Hyundai Xcent and Honda Amaze are based on hatchbacks, while Ford
India has designed it from scratch. In fact, the new generation of Ford Figo
hatchback was designed after the Figo Aspire. At an on road price range of Rs.
6.56-10.04 Lakh in Bangalore, it offers many progressive features that can be
found only in high-end premium cars. For example, compulsory airbags standard
across all variants. And this feature cannot be found in any other car in its
segment.
If you observe closely then you will find Ford has smartly given a new
identity to its grille. It is equipped
with large headlamps but a projector headlamp setup would be a better choice.
The lower half of the front bumper looks interesting, the overall approach in
terms of design is definitely best-in-class. It’s a direct competition to Maruti Swift DZire, Honda
Amaze and Tata Zest among others. But it surely has competitive advantages over
others. For example, longer wheelbase, ground clearance and length.
The sports edition comes with
a retuned suspension setup for handling offroads with stability. Although, the
engine-transmission remains the same. The sports edition comes with 1.2-litre, 88PS petrol engine and
the 1.5-litre, 100PS diesel. Both the variants of engines are paired to a
5-speed manual transmission. The sports edition also gets cosmetic
updates like all-black interiors, black painted grilled bars and leather
wrapped steering wheel. It is based on the titanium variant of the regular
Aspire and priced at priced at Rs 6.5 lakh (petrol version), and Rs 7.6 Lakh
(Diesel version), on road price in Bangalore.
The base variant delivers 99bhp@3750rpm and 215Nm@1750-3000rpm of max
power and max torque respectively. Ford claims an average of 25.8 kmpl for this
mid 1.5 TDCi Titanium variant which is quite impressive.
